Gothic Architecture was an amazing feat of engineering. With rib vaults and flying buttresses, gothic structures were able to be much taller with thinner walls and more windows than previous buildings. That being said, it held back development of science, philosophy, art, and free thinking for centuries because of the massive workforce and money needed to build these structures.
